Pastel, 18x24
This is my latest painting, and I had a lot of fun with this one. The reference was my little boy standing on the bridge at Spring Park, which is a beautiful park by the St John's River. It's very peaceful here, with lots of wildlife.
I find that I enjoy painting landscapes more if I include a figure in it--even if the figure is very small, as it is here. I'm not sure why this is, but I enjoy painting people and I like for my paintings to tell a story.
This painting was juried into the AGOP Fall Show "Life's Inspirations", November 2010, and also the St Augustine Art Association "Fantastic Florida" show, December, 2010.

Recent pastel paintings
In a busy house with 3 kids and 4 dogs (yes, FOUR dogs!), painting is my sanity saver. I love the time I get to spend at my easel with the Dave Matthews Band "station" playing on Pandora and the pastel dust flying. I mostly like to paint people, animals, and the beautiful Florida outdoors, but I'll paint pretty much anything that catches my eye. Here are a few of my recent paintings.
